This electrical contractor based in Surrey is seeking a full time Purchasing/Inventory Manager.

 


Job Description

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE

 

Supervise and participate in the procurement activities for all inventory, related internal controls, and associated programs. Works closely with management and employees to ensure all inventories are effectively managed at an efficient level.

 

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Supervises the procurement for all inventory, related internal controls, and associated programs.

  • Participates in the development of procurement and control policies, practices, processes, and methods while ensuring alignment to Cobra Electric's management directives. 

  • Participates in the daily review of purchase orders, goods receipts and stock transfers between the main warehouse and mobile warehouses.

  • Maintains Key Supplier relationships and a preferred vendor list.

  • Solicits competitive proposals from suppliers, analyzes and recommends best proposal to management.

  • Implementation of purchase inquiry documents for use in acquiring materials.

  • Ensures inventory is maintained at required levels by establishing practices to minimize risk of stock shortages while also managing cost effectiveness.

  • Identifies inventory shortages or surpluses and takes remedial recommendations

  • Analyzes inventory requirements and closely monitors/manages critical inventory parts by working closely with Operations Department to forecast demand and establish appropriate inventory levels in response to projects or demand maintenance activities.

  • Communicates with other departments on all inventory processes and works with them to implement inventory demand planning and control measures

  • Monitors procurement and inventory control work for compliance with policies and procedures. Takes remedial action to address issues or problems.

  • Analyzes and oversees movement of repairable items and performs cost/benefit analyses of in house versus external repairs

  • Ensures department compliance with all safety regulations and safe work practices

  • Resolves day-to-day issues as they occur, alerting Management to problems as necessary.

  • Oversees materials receiving, inspection, and warehousing.

  • Leads or participates in various meetings.

  • Carries out other related tasks and projects as required.

     

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

The competencies for this position would be acquired through a post-secondary degree/diploma through SCMA (Supply Chain Management Association) with a focus on Inventory Management, or a related field, plus 3 years direct-related experience, which includes supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. An accounting background is an asset.

 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Solid knowledge of procurement principles, methods, concepts, best practices, and techniques, including trade legislation, competitive bidding, and contract law.

  • Proven knowledge of inventory control theories, practices and procedures, as well as hands on experience of supply chain concepts such as inventory deployment, planning, optimization and logistics.

  • Working knowledge of SAP Business One or similar ERP system

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including report-writing skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, and other MS Office programs

  • Analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Supervisory skills including effective communication, proven ability to manage and inspire a team.

  • Able to foster a positive and energetic work environment.

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.

  • Proven ability to meet KPI’s

  • Previous experience working with materials used in the electrical industry an asset.

  • Driver's abstract from ICBC

     

WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week.

 

COMPENSATION:

$65,000 - $75,000 annually based on experience, plus a benefits package
