Job Description

Dare Foods Limited, a leading Canadian manufacturer and distributor of quality biscuits, crackers, fine breads and confectionery products, is seeking an energetic and service oriented Intermediate level Buyer for our Corporate Purchasing Team based in Kitchener, Ontario.

 Buyer Responsibilities

  • Source quality packaging materials, services and other indirect purchases at competitive costs to support production and innovation requirements

  • To develop and report analytical data to support purchasing and inventory management decisions

  • Negotiate and tender agreements across supply base using best in class tools

  • Monitor market conditions using online tools, networking and published information

  • Utilize, participate and manage cross functional groups to drive Procurement cost reductions

  • Advance VMI and EDI within procurement

  • Maintain SAP master data, including material masters, vendor masters, source lists and pricing tables.

  • Support SAP testing, upgrades and education.

  • Develop vendors to ensure conformance of materials and competitive pricing

  • Coordinate, execute, analyze and negotiate tenders

  • Administer contracts and ERP requirements

  • Develop annual budgets

     

    Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of relevant purchasing experience, ideally in a consumer packaged goods company

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Packaging buying experience

  • Relevant post-secondary degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) with experience in supply chain with strength in analysis (i.e. manufacturing process, strategic sourcing, negotiating and contracts).

  • Working towards a SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) designation (PMAC - Purchasing Management Association of Canada)

  • Knowledge of Supply Chain procedures

  • Ability to influence decision makers; excellent relationship management skills.

  • Proficient with an ERP system (ideally SAP)

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Advanced Excel skills)

  • In depth analytical skills

  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Strong problem- solving ability

  • Communications and relationship-building with internal/external contacts

  • Works independently

  • Initiative and teamwork

    The successful candidate is expected to work full time hours and be punctual.  The individual must work overtime as needed and has the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements and deadlines (i.e. year budget deadline).
