Job Description

The Supply Chain Department at our Sidney, BC location is expanding and our Supply Chain Manager is seeking an energetic professional to fill the role of Purchaser.

You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing all goods/services for Seastar. You will utilize your communication and organizational skills to ensure the timely and cost effective supply of materials/services.  You will provide back-up for other members of the Supply Chain Department.

Ideally, you will hold a SCMP or APICS designation along with a diploma or degree in materials/supply chain management.   You will have demonstrated experience using ERP/MRP software, have a working knowledge of operational procedures in a manufacturing environment, and excel at establishing/maintaining strong vendor relationships.

The major responsibilities of the position are detailed below.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Work in conjunction with other Supply Chain Department members to ensure all goods and services are purchased and received with a focus on cost and plant efficiency (includes raw materials, inventory items and non-inventory goods/services)
  • Review requisitions and enter purchase orders using Chempax C/S, issue purchase orders to suppliers, follow up as required.
  • Maintain relationships with vendor representatives; negotiate pricing and supply contracts
  • Review 3PL arrangements, monitor cost effectiveness and recommend strategies
  • Source alternative suppliers while maintaining a focus on quality
  • Complete any required training on Chempax C/S, Seastar’s ERP system
  • Audit data in ERP system to ensure accuracy
  • Work with Finance team to review and investigate invoicing discrepancies
  • Track metrics used to measure company performance or efficiency
  • Create and maintain written procedures as required
  • Ensure timely, accurate flow of information to all departments and business partners
  • Provide back-up for other members of Supply Chain Department

  • Performs job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s values
  • Other activities as determined by the Supply Chain Manager

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • SCMP or APICS designation, degree in materials/supply chain management or related field, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of operational procedures related to the movement of materials in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using ERP, MRP, or other business software
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
