Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Senior Buyer to work with Procurement Services in the Department of Finance for this exciting opportunity. Are you a Financial professional with experience in a public sector environment?  Do you possess at least 3 years’ of experience executing procurement and fiduciary responsibilities? Are you pursuing or do you currently hold a “Supply Chain Management Professional” designation? Do you possess an understanding of current laws and public policy as they relate to procurement and finance? If so, keep reading!

In this role, you will be directly accountable for timely and appropriate supply and delivery of goods and services as required by the University community. Procure by purchase, rental or lease the required quality and quantity of goods and services in an efficient and effective manner using the highest standard of business ethics. The Senior Buyer is required to analyze procurement activities on a Department, Faculty and University basis to develop appropriate methods of facilitating acquisitions.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:

A Certificate in Purchasing or equivalent, including successful completion of post-secondary courses related to contract and competitive bidding law, contract development and negotiation. We are seeking candidates who are pursuing the CSCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) designation. In addition, the successful incumbent will have knowledge of other educational/public sector organization's purchasing policies when participating in cooperative buying groups. Knowledge of any major changes/developments in commodities, research related acquisitions and experience in sustainability would be an asset.
