Job Description

Our client, a leading infrastructure and private equity solutions provider is expanding.  In the private equity space, our client’s team has extensive experience building world-class private equity portfolios for some of the most sophisticated Canadian institutional investors. The investment team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from some of the top investment firms in the world.

They are now looking to onboard a Manager, Corporate Accounting to their Accounting and Finance Team. The Manager, Corporate Accounting will have corporate accounting responsibilities and be a key member of the group responsible for corporate reporting as well as investment reporting for clients including specific investment vehicles. The Manager, Corporate Accounting will work closely with senior level accounting professionals and report to the CFO.  

 

Primary responsibilities for the Manager, Corporate Accounting are as follows:
*  Manage, supervise and coordinate corporate accounting staff in accounting-close activities for a number of entities  
*  Lead accounting projects including the design, implementation and maintenance of key finance, budgeting and reporting systems
*  Perform month-end financial statement process, preparation, review and analysis; review and approve accounting journal entries
*  Prepare timely and accurate management and financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
*  Perform monthly accounting required for various corporate entities to be consolidated with Global Investors 
*  Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results in accordance with U.S. GAAP & IFRS
*  Manage annual audits by liaising with auditors, ensuring timely completion of supporting schedules and documentation related to financial audits
*  Assist with annual budget preparation and on-going monitoring of company results including budget to actual variance analysis
*  Identify and implement process improvements and automation to reduce time for accounting close-outs and reporting
*  Assess staff performance, identify training and development needs
*  Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports as needed; special projects as required

 

In order to be considered for the Manager, Corporate Accounting role, you must:

 

*  Have a University degree in either Business Administration and/or Accounting;
*  Have an Accounting Designation (CPA, CA preferred)
*  Have 5 or more years of relevant professional accounting experience; experience in the asset management industry preferred
*  Have solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial accounting, reporting and analytical techniques and financial accounting systems
*  Have deep knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
*  Have experience managing, coaching and training staff
*  Have strong Microsoft Office applications with an advanced knowledge of Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, hlookups, etc); experience with QuickBooks an asset
*  Have exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
*  Have excellent oral and written communication skills
