Global Buyer

Responsibilities

  • Prepare professional standard purchase requisitions to include key purchasing provisions and documentation.

  • Manage and understand at a high level contractual documentation required for international procurement, transit insurance, packing/crating requirements and customs clearance.

  • Manage and understand, at a high-level, freight delivery/shipping requirements.

  • Manage and restock spare parts inventory data base and warehouse storage.

  • Analyze Suppliers in order to select the most suitable Suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.

  • Negotiate with Suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality so as to obtain the maximum benefit for the Company.

  • Manage Suppliers and open orders to meet objectives related to schedule and performance.

  • Develop positive relationships with established global Suppliers while sourcing new opportunities.

  • Visit Suppliers, both local and global.

  • Analyze bills of material and drawings to understand key requirements.

  • Develop, implement and drive the procurement strategies in order to maximize Company objectives.

  • Review and manage the Supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy.

  • Perform regular performance review with Suppliers to drive continuous improvements.

  • Adopt appropriate Supplier management methodologies and procurement strategies in purchasing to secure better prices.

  • Understanding component functionality.

  • Work with the current supply base to minimize cost, while achieving target pricing on products.

  • Solve Make vs. Buy decisions when outsourcing manufacturing work.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Certifications

  • Mechanical Technologist Diploma, or equivalent technical experience

  • Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) designation preferred


Experience and Skills

  • 8-10 years in technical procurement.

  • Excellent computer skills required, including high level Excel and Word skills.

  • Excellent communication, time management and multitasking skills required.

  • Versatile, highly motivated, self-starter able to plan, organize and work as a leader.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
