Sourcing Specialist

Manages the sourcing process for their categories to maximize the value achieved through effective contract negotiation, contract management and vendor relationships

Responsibilities

  • Develops optimal sourcing strategies for achieving greatest value and lowest total cost of ownership;
  • Prepares for and develop negotiation strategies and tactics;
  • Negotiates contracts with existing or potential vendors;
  • Manages assigned contracts for processing & updating before expiration date;
  • Works closely with stakeholders and/or end users to evaluate products and/or services, i.e. cost, quality, service and work toward standardization and cost savings;
  • Conducts regular vendor business reviews, maintains vendor relationships, and ensures accountability and performance tracking;
  • Benchmarking;
  • Resolves end user issues with vendors as they arise;
  • Conducts RFx process, analyzes and evaluates vendor proposals and presents sourcing recommendations;
  • Understands and interprets contracts for most effective contract management and standardization based on contract terms and conditions;
  • Prepare and/or issue purchase orders/contracts. Obtain legal review and approval of contracts. Administer contracts/POs from award to competition. Expedite delivers and conduct follow-up procedures. Resolve Purchase Order/contract disputes with suppliers. Resolve quality & payment issues with suppliers/verify purchasing practice compliance with established laws, policies and ethics

Skill Set

  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships across a complex organization;
  • Experience working with ERP systems;
  • Ability to work independently, and collaboratively within teams on multiple projects with shifting deadlines and priorities;
  • Proficiency and understanding of sourcing best practices and how to apply them;
  • Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills;
  • Proficient in Excel;
  • Demonstrated understanding of current market conditions;
  • Ability to drive savings using different category strategies;
  • Understanding and application of project management techniques/methodologies as applied to both project lead and project participant roles

Education and Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Required. At least 5 years experience a high-volume supply chain/purchasing environment with related specific skill sets. CPM, CPSM, CMRP or equivalent preferred.
