The District of Mission is seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual to join our Finance Department in the Purchasing & Stores division. As the Senior Buyer you will perform complex purchasing functions in compliance with known policies and procedures and provide advice and guidance to departmental clients on complex purchasing issues.
As the Senior Buyer you will perform complex purchasing functions in compliance with known policies and procedures and provide advice and guidance to departmental clients on complex purchasing issues.
You will prepare, review and analyze detailed specifications, competitive bid documents and contracts ensuring competitive bidding law requirements are met. You will also source and procure supplies, obtain and analyze quotations from suppliers for goods and services and create purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and other documentation checking for accuracy, completeness of information and proper authorization. You will be required to assist with storeroom and inventory related duties, including operating a forklift.
The ideal candidate will have high school graduation (or equivalent) along with the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation; or completion of a degree or diploma in a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a purchasing environment performing complex procurement functions is required. You will have advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and you will have or be able to obtain certification to operate a forklift.
This full-time position works a four (4) day week, Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the 2018 hourly rate is $39.44 plus a comprehensive benefit package.
