Manager, Menu & Packaging Innovation Success with A&W Food Services of Canada Inc.

Based at A&W’s Corporate Home Office in North Vancouver, the Manager, Menu & Packaging Innovation Success has a mandate to support the overall strategy for the brand by ensuring that A&W’s menu and packaging items meet the needs of guests and are aligned with c0rporate goals for guest experience, operational integrity, value and environmental sustainability. This position plays a key role in new product development for menu and packaging items. The role has responsibility for full product development from ideation to research, testing and commissioning. The position plays a key support role in working with a within A&W’s dynamic, guest-centric system to support effective launching of new products at the actual restaurant level.  This multi-faceted, dynamic leadership role is responsible for allocation of innovation expenses, food photography, NAF innovation, POS and menu boards.

The Manager, Menu, & Packaging Innovation Success reports to the Director, Menu Development and serves as Chair of the Menu and Packaging Committee of the Standards Board. The incumbent must develop and maintain superb working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners, including franchisees, suppliers, and representatives of A&W’s supply chain, marketing and operations teams.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with superb organizational, problem-solving, writing, influencing, presentation and project management skills.  Ideally, the candidate will have had experience in successfully leading new product development, preferably in food and/or food packaging. Creative and curious, the candidate must possess a unique blend of entrepreneurial drive, analytical finesse and a proven capacity to pragmatically and collaboratively to drive innovation and change in a collaborative, engaging manner.   An active listener, the candidate must have a strong drive for results and an excellent ability to work with detail without losing sight of the big picture.  The candidate must have an uncanny blend of being able to conceive ideas and work with others to actually implement something tangible in a cost-effective manner.  The candidate must have a university degree in a related discipline such as Commerce or Food Science Administration and at least five years of relevant business experience. Proactive and able to work independently and with minimal supervision, the candidate must have a genuine interest in menu development, recipes and packaging and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
