Working for Calgary Transit and in partnership with The City’s Supply Management, this Senior Transit Supply Chain Specialist will design and implement strategy and tactics to improve alignment and day-to-day execution between Transit and Supply. The Specialist will evaluate trade-offs to deliver performance gains and equip Transit and Supply for ongoing sustainment and success. The Specialist will optimize the Transit and Supply interface to establish a clear vision and purpose, foster employee commitment and participation, deliver effectiveness and efficiency gains, and promote continuous improvement. Primary duties include:
  • Evaluate and deliver on highest value Transit supply chain projects, on-going.
  • Develop Transit’s supply chain maturity:
    • Assess the existing end to end Transit supply chain against Transit’s business strategy.
    • Develop a framework for strategic alignment between Transit and Supply that includes metrics, service standards, risk management, and processes for performance improvement.
    • Build a detailed implementation and sustainment plan.
    • Execute the plan.
    • Develop internal talent.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, supplemented with a minimum of 15 years of experience working in a supply chain management environment.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in the Transportation industry.
  • Experience leading change in complex organizations.
  • Project management skills.
  • Business process skills.
  • Proven success in optimizing supply chain processes.
  • Extensive experience working with senior leadership.
  • The ability to listen and gain trust and cooperation from staff at all levels of the organization.
  • A track record of collaboration across extended supply chain including external partners is an asset.
  • A professional designation in Supply Chain is also considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires exceptional interpersonal skills (facilitation, negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution), and excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to suit audience.
